Plaquex is a mixture of essential phospholipids made from soy beans. It's most important effect is its ability to reduce fatty atherosclerotic plaque deposits in artery walls.
Atherosclerotic plaque is composed of many constituents, but in general has two main ones, cholesterol and calcium. Chelation therapy addresses the calcium constituent; Plaquex addresses the cholesterol component. Plaquex also lowers homocysteine levels. Studies in lab animals have shown that it increases life span by up to 36%. An important therapeutic application of Plaquex treatment program is increasing an individual's ability to withstand cardiac stress which is highly valuable for individuals who have suffered a heart attack or other heart injury. Plaquex appears to aid in the removal of excess cholesterol from the membranes of cells, and along with existing HDL cholesterol, it aids in the transport of free cholesterol from deposits in arteries, fat cells, muscle and connective tissue to the liver, where its excretion is enhanced. It also appears to lower the level of substance lipoprotein a (Lp(a), which is a critical factor in the formation of blood clots during heart attack or stroke. |
Plaquex doesn't remove toxic heavy metals such as kead, cadmium and mercury, so it's not a substitute for chelation therapy, but chelation can only be used sparingly in the presence of reduced kidney function.
Plaquex, on the other hand, actually seems to improve or stabilize kidney function in those with pre-existing kidney disease. Plaquex and chelation can't be mixed together in one infusion, so instead they are administered on alternate treatment days. Studies have established that Plaquex therapy has the following therapeutic applications:
